The BNP have really gone beyond now.
They have registered their party's candidates in Swansea under the description "Support Our Troops Bring Them Home". The "description" on a Ballot paper/statement of persons nominated is where political parties describe themselves - Labour Party, Conservative Candidate, Liberal Democrats, etc, etc. In one or two instances I have seen descriptions such as "Liberal Democrat Focus Team" or "Blogsville Conservatives", but this really is a bizarre use of the description box as it gives no hint as to the party banner under which the candidate is seeking to be elected.
I have, however, checked the Electoral Commission website and found that the description "Support Our Troops Bring Them Home" is indeed an officially recognised "description" for the BNP, along with a number of other interesting euphemistic and slightly odd terms.
What is worse is the blatant hijacking of the current military conflict in Afghanistan for political ends and what really makes me angry is the contempt shown to our troops by the BNP by using their name in vain on a ballot paper. How low, how shallow and how sickening.
The troops I have met at Homecoming Parades, Freedom Marches and Remembrance Parades over the last few years do a job that no one else would envy. They serve with distinction, tremendous bravery and without question or resentment. They are not political pawns to be played with by any party.
If the BNP candidates in Swansea (and I a guessing, elsewhere) are so ashamed of placing the words "British National Party Candidate" in their official description, they should at least be brave enough to put a more accurate description, something along the lines of "BNP coward not worthy of cleaning our troops boots" perhaps?

It's not very often that I've a good word for Tories or the Tory Party , but you are to be commended for this .
ReplyDeleteGood spot, Mr Kinzett, well done.
ReplyDeleteWell said Mr Kinzett, your comments are spot on.
ReplyDeleteIt looks as if Peter [never had an origibal thought in his life] Black has copied your stance on this issue. Typical Lib Dem tacticsis - they are never pro-active always re-active and they are never original they always copy.
We had to sit last night and listen to [holier than thou] Nick Clegg go on about how MP's from the two main party's had claimed expenses on homes they were not entitled - but not his party.
ReplyDeleteWhat a short memory Nick Clegg has got what about the expenses he himself had to repay for claiming for gardening services, ect and lets not forget the latest article in the national papers about the party funds going straight into his PRIVATE BANK ACCOUNT. Also what about the previous CEO of the Lib Dems, Lord Rennard, who when in office suddenly stepped down days after questions were raised over his House of Lords expense claims. Lord Rennard told party members that he would quit his role for “family and health reasons”. The news comes days after the peer was criticised for claiming more than £40,000 for running a second home, despite owning an apartment less than two miles from Westminster. The Lib Dem party strenuously denied that the revelations were linked to his departure, although his letter to party members admitted that he had brought the announcement forward. He apparently used the cash to pay for a holiday home in Eastbourne, East Sussex. But neighbours reportedly see him there only occasionally, and refer to him as the “holiday-home man”.
As a member of the public i cannot stand the hypocracy of Nick Clegg who is just a patronising arrogant prat.
I also note their Winston Churchill/Nick Griffin comparison in the photograph. Why can't they just be who they are, they shouldn't try to trick people into voting for them, they are more interested in power than a true democracy. Unfortunately as has been said before, denying their right to stand and speak goes against everything we've ever fought for.
